SHEBANG! is a series of visual art works that Linda painted during 2025. They focus on her thoughts about passion – for something – be it political or acts of the imagination, for example: Joan of Arc and Aaron Bushnell who saw a cause that drove them to act.
Other pieces – painted on bed sheets –abstract and less driven by the political moment in which we live – illustrate “fire” or “rage” – expressed by Linda’s use of words – which are her passion. She loves the way words mean and the way they look. The sound and/or the shape of a word sets an idea into motion.
In addition to the bedsheets, there are handwritten texts from her diaries which are printed on fabric. They are stand-alone graphic statements – to be read or looked at just for the pleasure of lines on a page. The work holds a good deal of thinking and invites you to linger a moment on each image.
The opening reception takes place on Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 5pm to 7pm – and features a screening of ROOM/RAUM, a short movie, edited by Henry Munson – based on Linda’s artbook of drawings, Room/Raum (1978) – accompanied by the voices of Claudia Bruce and Dagmar Appel with music composed and performed by Semih Firincioglu, originally performed in 1981.
The show closes on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
