Making Things Work
It has been awhile since I have written on this blog
a lot has happened since Covid-19 hit us all in March 2020.
TSL closed it doors on the 17th and started a comfort food
project to help our friends and neighbors get some prepared
meals delivered to those who wanted an affordable meal—
and to those who just live at the edge—(no one was turned
away.) 100’s of meals went out weekly. We continue to
prepare 200 meals a week still. The kitchen at TSL became
the center of TSL activities—our staff joined in to make this
work —we applaud them for their generosity and their “can do
spirit”. We also provide our members with Virtual Movies
starting in June and continue to do so.
As it became clear that we could not open TSL to our usual
steady stream of Indy movies, (live HD Opera – National Theater- Bolshoi)
+ book readings and performances we decided
to prepare for outdoor events —this meant building a
stage. We have now opened this July 17th. We
continue providing outdoor events our our new stage until
fall (weather permitting). We are screening movies and
hosting musical performances every Friday and Saturday.
No movies indoors and no performances are in the near future so
we have made the cafe into an art gallery—
this has been on going project
to get the walls ready and the space prepared—
we will open Sept. 1.
So we have had to move quickly and with re-inventing
the TSL that will be very different than before.
IN addition to all of this work we are continuing with
the Solar installation. And last but not least we have
a new website that holds the Mussmann/Bruce archives.
Please check it out and join us when you can—as we
navigate this era of Covid-19.
And on a final note—as you can imagine our income has
has diminished — since we have been hampered by
our ability to provide programing—but so far so good.
If you are feeling generous we are eager to accept your
