Some time in October, 2019, TSL Co-Director Linda Mussmann found a small blackboard in the trash. She repainted it and wrote the following on it: “NEO-LIBERALISM IS KILLING US.” She hung the board near the door to the auditorium. Some people thought it was a movie playing in the theater. Some people asked her: “What is that?” Some people agreed with the sign and some people continued to ask: “What is neoliberalism?”
Linda’s usual response was that neoliberalism is what we are experiencing now – a hyper-globalization of the free market and winner-take-all environment where the rich are getting more and the little people are getting less.
Conversations continued and then, one day, an economist and long-time member of TSL, David Levey, said that he would be willing to be part of a discussion about neoliberalism and that he would, probably, offer a different perspective than Linda’s.
From that sequence of events, TSL has scheduled what looks to be a very interesting and informative event. Join the conversation!
