On Friday, June 22 at 7:30 p.m., at Time and Space Limited in Hudson, Aston Magna performs its first full weekend program: Bach, Telemann, Handel & Burtzos, with soprano Dominique Labelle and the Aston Magna ensemble. A pre-concert talk takes place at 6:30 p.m. with Artistic Director Daniel Stepner.
The program includes J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 5; Two German Arias by Handel; a Telemann Sonata, and a new composition by Alex Burtzos, The Hourglass Equation. This will be Burtzos’ second commissioned composition for Aston Magna. In addition to Labelle, musicians are Daniel Stepner, baroque violin; Christopher Krueger, flute/recorder; Andrew Schwartz, baroque bassoon; Julie Leven, baroque violin; Laura Jeppesen, baroque viola; Loretta O’Sullivan; baroque cello and Michael Sponseller, harpsichord.
Tickets are $40 in advance, $45 at the door, with discounts for students and patrons under age 30; up to two children free with a ticketed adult.
In addition to the TSL performance, Aston Magna’s 46th festival season runs from June 14-July 21 with performances in the Berkshires and Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts, at Brandeis University, and at Wethersfield Garden in Amenia, N.Y.
