Time to Talk: Cynthia Carlson: Sixty Years
The renown
ed artist will discuss her work and her newly published monograph by D.A.P. (Distributed Art Publishers).

Join us at TSL to hear Ms. Carlson talk followed by a Q&A. Copies of her monograph will be available for sale, and there will also be a couple of her artworks on display in the TSL Gallery!

Cynthia Carlson was among the heroines who championed beauty, high-spirited creativity, and humor against the sober, cold edges of minimalism. She helped infuse contemporary art with powerful and inventive feminine energy, influencing and opening doors for future generations.

“Few midcentury artists have had as profound an impact on contemporary aesthetics as Cynthia Carlson, a pioneer of the Pattern and Decoration movement. While most people in the 70s were stuck in the rut of modernist minimalism, Carlson boldly broke gender and artistic barriers with feminine, maximalist wallpapers and art installations that we’re still replicating in our living rooms and galleries today.
To celebrate her legacy, D.A.P. has just published Cynthia Carlson: Sixty Years, a beautiful book examining both her whimsical eye and under-appreciated imprint on the art world. Not only does it offer fascinating insight into Carlson’s impressive career, but it also provides the much-needed inspiration to finally add that pop of color to your white walls.”
