TSL encourages artistic expression in daily life, and supports the evolution of Hudson, New York, as a community that celebrates its diversity. TSL accomplishes its goals by engaging audiences in exploring themes that reflect the local and global concerns of Hudson Valley residents with original theater productions and performances, music, art exhibitions, multi-media productions, independent and documentary films, Live HD Simulcasts, youth projects, and special events.
By exposing an underserved area of New York State to the benefits of artistic expression, TSL has become a beacon and leader in the neighborhood, county, and state, shaping the lives of community members through innovative and exciting cultural projects of quality and substance. Its mission is to educate, enliven, and expand the artistic quality of life in the community it serves.
Over two decades, Linda and Claudia have slowly and surely renovated the old bakery, one space at a time, one projector at a time, one program at a time, as they have developed a unique home for the arts, open to everyone. This has been accomplished with the hard work and dedication of TSL staff, and a host of special friends, members, businesses and foundations who have put their trust and funds behind the TSL idea. From the days of screening 16mm movies, where members and visitors brought their own cushions to soften the hard wooden pews, to the two theaters of today, each outfitted with state-of-the-art digital and HD projectors and Dolby surround sound, TSL’s passion is the belief that art is the force that brings us together and empowers us to make change in our lives and in the world around us.
TSL brings to this community and the entire region, programs of creative energy, that testify to the hopes and dreams of great art and artists past, present, and future. The belief that art is what holds us all together is why TSL does what it does.
