A. Lincoln’s Birthday

Feb. 12th marks the day of A. Lincoln

one of the great leaders of the nation.

Now as we watch the nation unravel post-

Trump — the impeachment trial 

proceeds—the daily cycle of news

keeps the focus on the nations flaws

and failures.  The voices of insurrection

have reared their ugly heads and to

put them back in the dust bin of history

will be a challenge for the next 

generation. So for some hope

I quote the last paragraph of

Lincoln’s second inaugrual  address:

“With malice toward none; with charity for all; 

with firmness in the right, 

as God gives us to see the right, 

let us strive on to finish the work we are in; 

to bind up the nation’s wounds; 

to care for him who shall have borne the battle, 

and for his widow, and his orphan—

to do all which may achieve and cherish a just, 

and a lasting peace, 

among ourselves, 

and with all nations.”
