TSL has some things for sale…we are cleaning out our things.
We have records, books, oak desks, opera record collections, chairs, ping pong table, bathtub (clawfoot), keyboards (Kurtzweil), corner cabinets, power scooter, and more….time to lighten our load here.
We also have storage space for rent and some other work/live spaces that artists might be interested in renting.
so there is the news from the stockroom.
Stay cool drink a lot of water and watch out for the eclipse of the sun today…all change is in order once the sun takes a break from our little planet. We think we are the center of the universe?? i don’t think so.
And we are working on MACBETH…still looking for some teens who want to take the challenge…and make this a new MAC one for the 21st century—one which fits into the time of war and chaos in which we live.
Okay okay and so on and so on.
Remember if you are not a member of TSL it makes a difference…be glad to tell you why or give you a tour.

We will be doing a Teen Theater project this summer—starting July 19th. and runs 2 1/2 weeks. The project is MACBETH.
Interested Teens who wish to be involved need to meet us prior to this date so we know who is interested and level of skills. An audition is necessary.
E-mail Linda Mussmann or call 822-8448 FYI@TIMEANDSPACE.ORG for a time to audition and to know more about the project.
IN addition to the TEEN project there will be a program for young kids called TSL KIDS BUILD COMMUNITY age 3rd & 4th grade starting in July. This is a hands on project that builds a community out of found material such as cardboard and wood . The project will be constructed over the duration of the times the young children meet. The cardboard house is the beginning piece in the project and will be placed on a table where the rest of the landscape will be imagined and constructed.
This is a group project and will enable kids to have a chance to work with objects to create imagined spaces and places. Times for this project will be announced.
This requires signing up and stopping by TSL to get information about the class.
Contributions are welcome to support the youth projects at TSL.
And Volunteers are welcome as well.
Let us know if you are interested.
Please call 822-8448 ask for LInda or e-mail LInda FYI@TIMEANDSPACE.ORG

Long ago when I was thinking and reading about life and art and art and life the book by E.H. Gombrich called Meditations on a Hobby Horse and other essays on the theory of art was an improtant book for me—along with many others.
In this book are essays on art. The one essay that I have re-read is the one the Hobby Horse.
Gombrich talks about the Hobby Horse in the world of art and representation.
He talks about art and artists and what we do to arrive at our images and pictures and so on.
The Hobby Horse is not a metaphor.
It is not an image of a horse nor and imitation of a horse. and so on and so on.
It is for Grombrich a substitute for a horse.
If a child calls a stick a horse it is not a sign that signifies the concept of horse nor a portrait of an individual horse — for Gombrich it is a substitute for horse in its own right.
Two things are needed to turn a stick into a horse:
1-the form must be possible to ride
2- riding matters.
the greater the desire to “ride”the fewer the features needed.
So what are we to think about this discussion?
The Hobby Horse is the concept of Horse and it is the memory of horse.
It sits in the corner of the nursery and fills the imagination.
It does this through the function of the form.
The need to ride creates this toy.
The need is the key that unlocks the mind to create a “thing”.
Okay and so on and so on.

This is a splendid movie.
check it out if you want to know more about a woman who dedicated her life to painting. IN addition she was a mother. No small task. Born at the beginning of the 20th century—she died in 1984. She painted people at a time when this was not a popular idea.
