Oh So Now So What So by Linda Mussmann
February 12th, 2017
Oh so now so what so? Where have I been? This is the question. I have been thinking of time and space and space and time –this is a complex sentence—lots to say and think as we face the 21st century—a century that some say looks like other centuries—but I think we are in a new time of centuries. Perhaps this one we have never seen before—this is beyond Napoleon or Robespierre–we are under the huge boot called capitalism—the corporate class is something that Marx has yet to dream—so here we are and now we need to take our spoons and start digging —the question is which way to we dig in or out.
Some think we are on the verge of another war. Some think we are on the edge of the turn. The questions are mostly rhetorical. These conundrums swirl around like icing on a birthday cake. They (questions) swirl–a kind of eye candy —all sugar and no substance. We dance with the dreams of those that have gone through this turnstile and wonder what they had in mind when they romanced one another and made us their children of this time. We seek to find….we toss and turn…we thread the needle—and dream of the camel and the rich man and wonder who will enter the heavenly gates.
Oh my and so now and so what? It is February 12th—the day of our Lincoln’s birthday. February 17th comes Claudia’s birthday. Time the illusive sieve….we long to hold it and yet like quick-silver it runs down a sloping board—says Virginia Woolf.
