Montecalvo’s mixed-media works incorporate silkscreen printing. Using a variety of surfaces, he obscures and manipulates the image and the physical surface to create one-of-a-kind pieces that tell a visual story. His show features recent studio projects and work produced during a two-month residency at Awagami Paper Factory in Tokushima, Japan, where he learned Japanese papermaking methods and worked with digital images, resulting in his largest works to date. He currently lives and maintains his studio in Rosendale, NY.
